Don’t sell yourself short! Every human being on this planet has value, the fact that we are alive and one person cares about us is already valuable. Your interpretation of value needs to change.

I am a resident in Amsterdam, a place that became worldwide known due to legalization of drugs and prostitution, attracts thousands and thousands of tourists looking for the best weed, mushrooms and girls behind a vitrine.

In the other hand, I live here for more than two years now, and I feel the healthiest I could ever be — It’s not related to the theme but the city that I am living needs true publicity!

Moving forward, one afternoon in Amsterdam in my early months here, I decided to try mushrooms, I felt like exploring my creativity and maybe I had an unknown hidden talent … An artist ready to be revealed, and my journey of success would start right there!

Kokopelli Smartshop, Amsterdam

So, I went to this cosy, relaxing and colourful store called

Kokopelli, right in the centre of Amsterdam, the busiest area, and asked for a box of mushrooms, the lightest ones because It was my first and only “trip”.

I was so excited, finally, my talent was going to be revealed and a new artist of this century would show up — They even going to name a street after me with all the drawings or poems I will recite.

So I ate them and waited, a few minutes in and started to kick in, my creative side was ready to be explored again, I took a bunch of pencils and a book, started drawing and writing at the same time, a miracle was happening in front of my eyes … I could not believe how much I sucked at it, I was contemplating one of the worst draws mankind has ever seen but laughing so hard at the same time (unfortunately I can’t share it with you because somehow, I lost it).

What are the lessons in this short story?

First, the misconception of values is only shown in form of art.

Second, don’t try to be something you aren’t.

Third, drugs will not make you an artist.

Gladly, I don’t have an addictive personality, so I am always willing to experience new things and just explore the curiosity of my brain and have my own conclusions.

Values can be revealed in many ways: talents, beliefs, strengths, experiences that made you happy.

And your values are within you since you were born, so if you feel a little bit lost, try to do a self-retrospective to improve your life, by that I mean try to “dig in” your past and see who you truly are! As soon as you find yourself again, and the values within you, work on them, explore them daily and bring the best of them, I will say “them” repeatedly till you understand how THEM are so important in your life! That is the secret. Because we all have them, we just don’t look hard enough. And once you find your values, embrace it!

It’s your identity, it’s who you are, accept it, and make the best of it.

When you find your identity and start working on it daily, everything will feel more natural because now, you know your true value, the reason you are in this world.

Surround yourself with people that see the true value in you, your family, your real friends(yes, real friends, not the party animals that only call you during the weekend and don’t no shit about who you are), your working place. Don’t allow anyone telling you, you don’t have any value, that is a lie.

To wrap it up, never sell yourself too short, believe in your path, trust in yourself.

Work on your values daily and become the best version of yourself!
